Upgrading your laptop

Upgrading a laptop computer is not as simple of a task as upgrading a desktop computer. Several models of laptops do not offer upgrades on many components that originally came with the computer. Still, you can do some things to customize your laptop to fit your needs once you have purchased it.

  • Memory.

Practically every laptop allows for upgrades in its RAM memory. Sometimes, you can do this yourself by opening a compartment underneath the laptop and replacing the memory card with a newer one that has more storage space. When you add a new memory card, you typically need to purchase it from the company which manufactured the laptop to make sure the new components are compatible with your existing laptop.

  • Processor.

Most laptop manufacturers can offer upgrades in speed and performance for older models. This sort of upgrade requires sending the laptop back to the manufacturer, so they can replace the processor with a faster one. Upgrading a processor can be cost prohibitive. After the unimaginable growth story of the computer the next thing which is taking the world by storm today in undoubtedly the internet.  Just in a span of 10 years this technology in coordination and cooperation with the computer has brought about a sea-change in the way in which we communicate and share information.  A day will not be far off when all the daily purchases of groceries and provisions would be done from the comfort of our home.  Consultations with doctors will be held online and medicines will also be prescribed the same way. X-rays and scans could also be done with a remote-controlled technology where the patient and the x-ray machines are situated miles away.  This might look a big premature and glib-talk today, but remember the same thing was also said about many inventions which have taken the world by storm.

While internet and the computer has indeed brought with it benefits and advantages for human kind as a whole, there are lot of grey areas also which need to be tackled. New Android OS Offers Better Security

Although smartphone use in the U.S. currently lags behind use in many Asian countries, mobile devices are becoming more popular. The latest version of Google’s Android operating system could offer increased security that will keep smartphone users safe while they surf the Web.

Clickjacking Threats on the Internet

“Gingerbread,” as Google has dubbed their latest Android OS, protects mobile device users from clickjack attacks. Clickjack attacks are hidden elements on a website that can be used to run scripts without the user’s knowledge. In theory, they could cause you to do anything from making purchases on Amazon.com to downloading spyware.

Stopping Clickjacks on Your Phone

To date, the best protection has been to avoid questionable sites. For instance, you should only visit video, game, and bingo sites that you trust. An application called NoScript helped for a while, but hackers quickly found ways around it. Since NoScript was never available for mobile devices, smartphone users never even had that protection.

The latest Android update, however, promises to alert users when they encounter clickjacked links. It also prevents them from unintentionally following hidden links.
